Show Performances

The Real Talk Performers is an educational drama group of teenagers ages 14-18. They address the topic of social justice by going on stage and performing shows for other people. Topics in the past have included Teen Pregnancy, LGBTQ issues, and masculine and famine stereotypes. RTP was started in 1996 to provide teens a dramatic way to inform themselves and people around them.

The RTP envisions a community where young people are empowered to serve as advocates for social change. The hardest thing to teach is one that is based on opinion. RTP tries to teach acceptance and rights for all. Many people don't believe in acceptance for gays, lesbians, or even blacks still. The hardest thing to change is minds. If you grew up believing that Homosexuals should have no rights at all, then its hard to change your mind.

The performers current project is Smash the Stereotypes. Smash the stereotypes is basically what it sounds like. They want to get rid of all stereotypes, like all black people like chicken, or white people cant jump, all those type of things.
